19 shopkeepers challaned for encroachment in Yamunanagar

The Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) removed encroachment from several areas in Yamunanagar.

A team of the MCYJ issued challans to 19 shopkeepers for encroachment and one shopkeeper for using single-use polythene bags.

According to information, the team headed by Chief Sanitary Inspector (CSI) Vinod Beniwal removed encroachment from Railway Road, Meera Bai Bazaar and Workshop Road. During the drive, the team members confiscated the goods of shopkeepers kept on the roads. Beniwal said the team removed the encroachments from both sides of the road from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk to railway station on Railway Road.

The team picked up the goods kept on the road and loaded them onto the vehicle of the MCYJ. He challaned many shopkeepers for encroachments near the Railway Station Chowk and collected the fine amount from them on the spot.

Thereafter, the team removed encroachments from both sides of the road from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk to the Women police station on Jagadhri Workshop Road. Similarly, the team also removed encroachment from Meera Bai Market. “We issued challans to 19 shopkeepers for excessive encroachment and to one shopkeeper for using banned polythene bags,” said Beniwal. He said it became difficult for vehicles and common people to pass through the roads due to the encroachments.

“Encroachment causes traffic jams on several roads in the twin cities Yamunanagar and Jagadhri. Many times, emergency services like ambulances and vehicles of fire brigade are also affected by jams. The process of removing encroachments from the roads will continue in future as well,” said Beniwal.

As per available information, on the instructions of Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar and Deputy Municipal Commissioner Kuldeep Malik, encroachment removal squads/teams have been formed headed by CSI Harjeet Singh for Wards 1 to 7, CSI Vinod Beniwal for Wards 8 to 15 and CSI Anil Nain for Wards 16 to 22.
