2 employees commit embezzlement in fee at Civil Hospital, Jagadhri

Two employees of the Civil Hospital, Jagadhri, allegedly committed embezzlement in government fee charged from people to prepare medico legal report (MLR).

The employees charged fee from people for preparing the MLR, but they didn’t issue them receipts.

They allegedly entered numbers of old receipts in computer to generate MLR as without entering receipt number, a computer doesn’t generate an MLR.

Besides, they used to enter number of new receipt multiple times to generate MLRs.

Dr Anuj Mangla, Medical Superintendent of Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital, Jagadhri, said that the accused had been identified as Satbir and Ruchi, both of whom were working as data entry operators.

He said that Satbir had been working since 2018 and Ruchi since 2022 as contractual employees (working under the HKRN) here.

He said that when the matter came into light, a team of four senior doctors were formed to investigate this matter.

“The team of the doctors conducted an inquiry of this case from April 1, 2024, to September 2024. During this period, about 35 cases of embezzlement came to light,” said Dr Anuj Mangla.

He said that on the directions of Civil Surgeon Dr Manjit Singh, a complaint had been lodged with the police to register an FIR against the suspects.

As per available information, the fee charged for MLR is fixed for Rs 250 in government hospitals.

After giving notices, the authorities of the hospital also recovered some of the amounts embezzled by them.
