A Fast Track Special Court sentenced two persons to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for sexually abusing and impregnating a 12-year-minor girl.

Special Public Prosecutor, Guldev Kumar Tandon said the convicts were step father and brother-in-law of the victim.

He said the court pronounced the judgment on February 24 and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 each on both convicts.

He added that in default of payment of fine, the convicts would have to undergo one year of simple imprisonment.

On the complaint of the mother of sexual abuse victim, a case was registered against the accused persons under Section 6 of the POCSO Act at Bilaspur police station of Yamunanagar district on December 31, 2023.

The victim told the police that she had gone to the house of her sister in the Jathlana area of Yamunanagar district, where her brother-in-law (sister’s husband) sexually abused her several times.

She said when she returned home, her step-father also sexually abused her several times. She further said she became pregnant and she delivered a baby.

The girl’s father also fabricated a false story to save himself, but later, the police arrested the step-father and brother-in-law.
