The police have arrested two main accused for murdering two persons at Jasbeer Colony in the Noorwala area of Panipat three days ago. The accused -- identified as Gaurav, alias Jalebi, and Hardeep, alias Happy, of Jasbeer Colony -- were arrested near Sector 29 from Chautala Road.
Two youths Sooraj and Neeraj of the same colony were stabbed to death on late Tuesday night. Following the complaint of Neeraj’s father, the police booked a total of 12 persons for allegedly murdering Sooraj and Neeraj.
Superintendent of Police Lokender Singh visited the spot and constituted four teams to nab the accused. Addressing a press conference on Friday, the SP said the team led by Inspector Phool Kumar, the in-charge of the CIA-2 unit, arrested the accused after receiving a tip-off on Friday.
He further said it was revealed during the preliminary information that the accused had murdered the duo due to some altercation around 25 days ago.
“During the preliminary investigation, it came to the fore that there were two rival groups. Neeraj and Sooraj were part of one of them. There was some altercation between the groups on Holi. Following which, the accused made a conspiracy to murder the two friends,” the SP said.
Sooraj and Neeraj were sitting in the vacant plot of the colony when the accused allegedly reached there and attacked them with knives. They fled the spot after murdering them. The accused who were now in the police net would be produced in the court on Saturday, the SP said.
