2 held on charge of animal cruelty

In Sirsa district’s Madhosinghana village, the police rescued 32 animals that were cramped up inside a truck and arrested two persons for violating the Animal Cruelty Act.

The rescue operation took place after the Nathusari Chopta police received a tip-off about the truck, transporting animals from Nohar in Rajasthan to Delhi under poor and inhumane conditions. Acting on this information, the police set up a checkpoint at the Madhosinghana bus stand on Sunday night to inspect all vehicles passing through the area.

When the officials stopped the truck and inspected it, they found it to be filled, beyond its capacity with animals. Police officials opened the truck and unloaded the animals, which included five calves, five heifers, and 22 buffaloes.

The driver, Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Bahbalpur in Fatehabad district, and his assistant, Abid from Ward No 23 in Baghpat, UP, were taken into custody for questioning.

Upon further inspection, the police discovered the truck’s registered owner was Azad Singh from Balsamand, Hisar. Following protocol, the police filed a case against the suspects under the Animal Cruelty Act, and the truck was seized as part of the investigation. The authorities emphasised that strict actions would continue against those involved in such acts of animal cruelty.
