Two persons were injured in an encounter with the police near Aanwal village in Rohtak district late on Wednesday evening.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team reached the location near the village. Two youths present there allegedly fired at the police team, following which the police also fired at them.

The youths, identified as Sombir and Sumit, received bullet injuries in the encounter. They have been admitted to the Trauma Centre of the local PGIMS.

The police are examining the background and track record of the injured youths, who are suspected to be involved in cases of theft and loot.
