
Rescue operation at Gohana.

Two persons and a cow were killed while 17 people sustained injuries after two sheds collapsed in Sabji Mandi on Sonepat road in Gohana due to heavy rain on Thursday evening.
In a tweet, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the incident was unfortunate. CM Khattar announced Rs 5 lakh compensation to the deceased’s family members. The deceased have been identified as Jagmender of Devipura and Sandeep of Rabhra village of the district.
As per information, the vegetable sellers were busy selling their vegetables in the new Sabji Mandi on Gohana-Sonepat when it started raining heavily accompanied with high winds. People took shelter under the shed which collapsed due to high-velocity winds. As per the sources, over 150 people were stuck under the shed’s debris.
The people immediately started a rescue operation and informed the district administration. The officials immediately swung into action and rescued and brought maximum people out of the collapsed.
As many as 19 people got injured and they have been immediately admitted to the general hospital and Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College for Women at Khanpur. The doctors declared vegetable seller Jagmender dead in general hospital while Sandeep was declared dead at medical college.
Sonepat DC Lalit Sewach said all JCBs of MC, roadways, PWD were pressed into the service immediately and safely rescued around 150 people who were stuck under the shed. Only 4-5 injured are admitted in hospitals while others have been discharged, the DC added.
