Two more dengue cases have surfaced in Gurugram district, the District Surveillance Officer of the Health Department, Dr JP Singh confirmed here on Monday. The total count of dengue patients has increased to 12 this season.

Dr JP Singh said six patients received treatment in government hospitals, while others underwent treatment in private hospitals. At least two of these patients were admitted.

The rapid fever mass survey teams had visited 9,72,231 houses to check sites for mosquito breeding. Besides, they prepared 1,61,380 slides of blood samples during this period. The department teams also visited 35,322 houses and prepared 732 slides on Monday.

The Health Department also collected 115 blood samples from suspected patients for dengue analysis on Monday, while it had collected a total of 684 blood samples this year since January 1.

The authorities also conducted rapid test for dengue analysis on 17 patients on Monday, and on 385 rapid tests throughout this year so far.

The department checked a total of 61,141 containers, coolers, etc in the district. Of these, larvae of dengue mosquito was found in 457 containers.

Meanwhile, 112 notices were issued under Section 214 of the Municipal Bylaws Act-1973 on Monday to owners of houses, where the teams found mosquito larvae. As many as 2,357 such notices had been issued this year.

Poor civic amenities, heaps of garbage on the roadside and vacant plots and advent of the monsoons have also added to the risk of the spread of vector-borne diseases like dengue.

Local officials of the Health Department have also requested the Municipal Corporation and other local bodies of the district to take preventive steps to curb mosquito breeding in their respective areas and increase fogging activities in vulnerable areas.
