2 most-wanted criminals nabbed after encounter in Sonepat

In a joint operation, the Sonepat police have succeeded to nab two most-wanted miscreants after a brief encounter at Kharkhoda on Thursday. They were reportedly wanted in murder, robbery and other heinous crime cases. Both sustained bullet injuries during the encounter and the police rushed them to the Civil Hospital.

The miscreants have been identified as Sandeep of Chhichdana and Deepak of Rindhana village in Gohana. They were carrying a reward of Rs 20,000 each. The police seized two pistols and a motorcycle from the spot.

Narender Kadyan, DCP, Crime, said the operation was carried out by the anti-gangster unit led by Inspector Ajay Dhankar, CIA (Gohana) team led by Inspector Ankit and CIA Sector 27 team led by Sub-Inspector Anil Kumar.

The team received information that two miscreants on a bike were coming to Kharkhoda to commit a crime. The teams jointly cornered them near Barona area of Kharkhoda, but they opened fire. In retaliation, the police also opened fire, injuring the accused.

Kadyan said the miscreants reportedly committed several heinous crimes in a single night on April 16-17. They took away a car in Delhi and shot a person there. They then robbed a tractor driver in Gohana and looted a liquor shop. They also demanded extortion money from a person at Chhichdana village. Later, they took away a motorcycle from Pataudi in Gurugram.

Taking a serious note of the incidents, Commissioner of Police Nazneen Bhasin announced rewards for their arrest and constituted teams to nab them.

The DCP said the accused used to watch crime videos and had passed Class XII. Six criminal cases had been registered against Sandeep and four against Deepak.
