2 students go missing in canal

Two Class VIII students went missing in Western Jamuna Canal (WJC) near the bridge of Badhi Majra village in Yamunanagar-Jagadhri Municipal Corporation.

The missing students have been identified as Krishana of Vijay Colony and Lakki of Hamida Colony. Both students are about 14-years-old.

After completing their annual Class VIII examinations, several students from a government school in Yamunanagar went to bathe in the canal near Badhi Majra village on Friday afternoon.

During this outing, Krishana and Lakki disappeared into the canal's deep waters. The remaining students alerted authorities by calling Dial 112 for assistance.

The police reached on the spot and initiated a search operation, enlisting the help of divers.

Dalbir Singh, SHO, Sadar police station, Yamunanagar said the missing students have not been located, but efforts were on to trace them.
