After getting the information, a team from Sector 40 police station reached the spot immediately and began the investigation. The bodies were sent to the district hospital for a postmortem examination.

The deceased, identified as Chandni (23) and Rashmi (21), were permanent residents of Hathras (UP). Chandni was married and also has a son. She used to live in the servant quarters downstairs in the house where the tragic incident occurred. Rashmi was also presently living in Gurugram city, working as a domestic help somewhere else. She had come to meet her sister.

Chandni was working in the house of one Manoj Sharma, who runs a furniture business in Sector 65 in the city. Manoj told the police that he along with his family left for Khatu Shyam temple in Rajasthan on Friday. After travelling a few kilometres in the city, he remembered that his medicines were at home. When he reached home to get the medicines, he saw that the house was open.

Hearing the sound of someone entering the house, the two women reportedly jumped from the fourth floor of the building. When Manoj heard the sound of someone falling, he saw the two women lying in a pool of blood on the floor of the backyard of the house.

During a preliminary investigation, the police found that Manoj had installed a pattern lock in the house. Since Chandni used to work in his house, she knew the code number of the lock. After the family members left for the temple, she went inside the house with her sister. The police were yet to ascertain as to why they entered the house in the absence of the landlord. And, how did they fall down?

The police are analysing the footage from CCTV cameras installed in the house for clues. Sector 40 police station SHO Lalit Kumar said: "We are waiting for the postmortem report. Further legal action, if any, will be taken, accordingly."

Meanwhile, the police have handed over the bodies to the family members for cremation. So far, no family member has given any written complaint to the police with regard to this incident, the SHO added.
