The police have arrested two women in connection with the death of a young man, Monu, who allegedly died due to drug overdose in Hansi two days ago.
The Hansi police has registered a case against them for culpable homicide not amounting to
murder. Sources claimed that they were indulging in the sale of drugs and the youth had procured drugs from them.
Hansi DSP Vinod Shankar said during investigation, the family of the deceased youth mentioned one of his friends who often took drugs with him. During further questioning, the youth revealed that they had purchased 'chitta' from two women residing at Sai Colony in Hansi.
The body of the deceased was found in suspicious circumstances in a plot on Hisar road. The police recovered several drug-filled syringes from the spot, indicating that he had injected drugs, leading to his death.
Acting on the information, the police tracked down the women, who have been
identified as Kanta (40) and Anita (35). During interrogation, they confessed that Monu had been buying drugs from them and that he had also purchased drugs on the night of November 2.
The DSP said the police were tracing the source of supply and identifying the network behind these women. He further stated that the police were running a continuous
campaign against drug abuse. Dog squads and PCR teams were regularly patrolling 'identified' areas of the town, he added.
