A two-year-old girl died after accidentally falling into a hot pan in a village here on Saturday. No case has been registered in this matter so far.

According to Daya Kishan, a resident of Deeg village in the district, his daughter Jiya (2) fell into a hot pan containing food being prepared at a community function in the neighbourhood. She was being carried by a 12-year-old girl named Paridhi at the time.

He explained that both children had gone to receive ‘prasad’ at the function. As Paridhi was walking with Jiya in her arms, she lost her balance, causing both of them to fall into the hot pan, which had been left uncovered at the spot. Paridhi sustained burn injuries and was shifted to a hospital in Delhi, while Jiya later succumbed to her injuries.

Daya Kishan blamed the cook for the incident, demanding that a case be registered against him for gross negligence that led to his daughter’s death. The cook, who had taken the pot off the stove to let the vegetables cool, burnt his hands while trying to pull the children out, the police said. Jiya’s body was handed over to her family after postmortem.
