A 20-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped from Ram Garh Pandwa village of the district on Wednesday. On her father’s complaint, the police have registered a case under Sections 363 and 366 of the IPC.
In his complaint, Shamsher accused Monu of Panipat district of kidnapping his daughter Pooja (20) on Wednesday when she was alone at home. He claimed Monu wanted to marry her.
Exemptee Sub-inspector Gurdev Singh said the matter was being investigated.
8 held for murder bid

The police have booked eight men on the charge of trying to kill a 23-year-old man of Cheeka on Wednesday.
Gurjant of Cheeka complained to the police that eight men armed with “lathis” and a gun attacked him in the grain market on Wednesday. They also burnt his motorcycle.
Five of them, identified as Raman of Chhot village, Amit of Shishla village, Kuldip of Dhanouri village, Manjeet of Wazir Khera village and Ashok Kumar of Kalayat, have been arrested. Their accomplices — Vishal, Vijay and Rajesh Kumar — are on the run.
Gurjant and the eight men had an old enmity.
The police have registered a case under Sections 148, 149, 307 and 435 of the IPC, and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act.
