207 arrested in NDPS cases in seven months in Kurukshetra

The Kurukshetra police have registered 107 cases under the NDPS Act and arrested 207 persons in connection with the cases, from January to July
this year.
As per the Kurukshetra police spokesman, during the seven months, over 42-kg opium, over 31 quintal chura post, 322-gram heroin, 69-kg ganja, nearly 395-gram smack, over 1.5-kg Charas, as many as 7,440 intoxicated capsules, 326 intoxicated tablets,
and over 26-kg poppy plants were recovered, by various teams of the Kurukshetra police.
Kurukshetra SP Nitish Agarwal said, “The Kurukshetra police have been making continuous efforts to break the nexus of drug smugglers and eradicate drug addiction. Awareness campaigns are being run in educational institutions to make students aware of ill-effects of drugs.”
He further said, “While the drug smugglers are being sent behind bars, efforts are also being made to identify the addicts and send them to drug de-addiction for treatment.
The citizens are being appealed to share the information of people involved in drug smuggling so that appropriate action can be taken.”
