The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0) has gathered momentum in Haryana with the approval of 2,198 beneficiaries under its Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) vertical. The decision was taken at the second meeting of the State Level Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (SLSMC), chaired by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi here today.

The beneficiaries, spread across 50 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), will receive financial support to build safe and sustainable homes. J Ganesan, DG, Housing for All, Haryana, and Secretary, Housing Department, said each beneficiary would get Rs 2.50 lakh in assistance — Rs 1.50 lakh from the Centre and Rs 1.00 lakh from the state. “This support will enable families to construct all-weather pucca houses with carpet areas of 30 to 45 sq metres, thereby improving their quality of life,” he said.

The meeting also reviewed the integration of the Mukhya Mantri Shehri Awas Yojana (MMSAY) with PMAY-U 2.0. As many as 15,256 beneficiaries who had been allotted one-marla plots under MMSAY have been approved by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) to receive Rs 2.50 lakh each for home construction. The move, officials said, ensures seamless alignment of state and Central housing schemes for maximum benefit.

Chief Secretary Rastogi underlined the significance of the approvals. “These decisions mark a major step towards realising the government’s vision of universal housing. With the combined efforts of the Centre and state, thousands of urban families in Haryana will benefit from improved housing facilities and better living standards,” he said.
