24 detained in crackdown on drug trafficking in Sirsa

The operation, which began at 6 am and lasted until 12:30 pm, targeted the homes of individuals involved in drug smuggling or other criminal activities. During the search operation, 24 persons involved in drug trafficking were detained under Section 172 of the BNS, while 11 others were arrested for crimes related to drug smuggling, excise law violations, fraud and public disturbances.
Around 32 police teams carried out the operation in different parts of the city, including colonies in Sirsa, as well as areas like Ellenabad, Rania, Nathusari Chopta, Ding and Baragudha in the rural regions. The police conducted thorough searches at multiple locations, focusing on individuals suspected of involvement in the drug trade and other illegal activities.
Superintendent of Police Vikrant Bhushan explained that the primary goal of the operation was to take strong action against drug traffickers and to clamp down on individuals who provide protection to these criminals. He also emphasised that this operation aimed at curbing the drug trade and criminal activities in the region effectively.
The search operation is part of an ongoing effort by the police to tackle drug-related issues and Bhushan assured that similar operations would continue in the future. He shared that with the cooperation of village panchayats and public, significant progress had been made in the fight against drug abuse. To date, 148 villages and 10 wards in Sirsa and Ellenabad have successfully declared themselves free from drugs.
The Superintendent of Police urged the public to continue their support and actively participate in the anti-drug campaigns. He encouraged people to report any information about drug traffickers fearlessly through the dedicated helpline 88140-11620, via phone, SMS or WhatsApp. Bhushan called on the community to take responsibility for their neighborhoods and contribute to making the region free of drugs and crime.
