24 infected with jaundice in Thanesar

As many as 24 jaundice cases due to contaminated water supply at Sector 3 of the Housing board of Thanesar have come light in Kurukshetra district.
Deputy Civil Surgeon SK Sahota said, “An issue of leakage in pipe came to notice on Sunday which was rectified by the Public Health Department. Seven cases were reported on Sunday, 11 on Monday, six on Tuesday, while no fresh case came to light on Wednesday. A house-to-house survey was done. The chlorination in water has been increased and halazone tablets have been distributed in the area. The water samples were also found to be fit.”
About the death of a pregnant woman, he said, “The woman was at her parental house in Kaithal for the last one month. She was five-month pregnant and was referred to the PGI, Rohtak, on January 14 owing to an infection. She died while undergoing treatment Tuesday morning. The cause of death is yet to be ascertained.”
