257 held across state as police intensify crackdown on gangs

42 cases of murder, extortion, attempt to murder, illegal weapons registered

Reaffirming its commitment to strengthening law and order and dismantling organised crime networks, Haryana Police has achieved a major breakthrough through its special statewide drive, Operation Trackdown.

Conducted on November 14, the one-day intensive operation led to the arrest of 257 criminals wanted in various cases across the state. Acting on the directions of the DGP, police teams arrested 76 dreaded offenders involved in heinous crimes, while 181 others were held in connection with separate wanted cases.

During the drive, police registered 42 cases related to serious offences such as murder, attempt to murder, extortion and illegal possession of weapons. Nearly 62 accused have been sent to jail following these arrests.

The operation resulted in 23 arrests in nine murder cases, while 16 accused were apprehended in 13 attempt-to-murder cases. Additionally, 15 criminals were booked in 14 cases under the Arms Act for illegal weapons.

To strengthen surveillance on repeat offenders, the police have opened history sheets for 13 accused. With this, the total number of history sheets opened during the ongoing crackdown has reached 131, bringing these individuals under continuous police watch.
