A 28-year-old man died after he was allegedly thrashed by a man while he was sleeping at his home in Jharsa village here on Tuesday. After committing the crime, the accused, while trying to escape, fell while jumping over the wall of the house. The family members of the deceased caught the accused and handed him over to the police. An FIR was registered at the Sadar police station.

The accused was identified as Sanjay, a native of Damoh district in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the police, they received information around 3:00 am on Tuesday about the crime, following which a police team reached the spot in Sainipura Mohalla of Jharsa village. The victim, Neeraj, was found dead with multiple injuries on his head. In her complaint, his sister said she was sleeping in her room with her children while Neeraj was sleeping outside.

“Around 2:30 am on Tuesday, I suddenly heard a sound and came out to find that an unknown man was repeatedly hitting Neeraj on his head with a bat. When I raised an alarm, he started running away, but while jumping from the wall, he fell down and we caught him and informed the police about it,” she added.
