Sirsa, July 8

In the Ellenabad block of Sirsa district, students of government schools are benefiting from the Haryana Chattra Suraksha Parivahan Yojana. For the 2024-25 session, 3,250 students were registered and 3,186 students have already been provided transportation facilities. The remaining 64 students, too, will get the facility soon. Through this scheme, students studying in government schools will be provided free transport.

This scheme is managed by the Education Department and 72 vehicles are transporting 3,186 students safely from Classes I to XII across 60 schools in Ellenabad block. The initiative, initiated as a pilot project in the 2023-24 academic session in the block, started from 17 schools.

A budget of Rs 15,89,582 was allocated for the scheme by March 31. More grants are expected for the 2024-25 session. The scheme offers transport facilities to students, particularly those living more than one kilometre away from school, under the supervision of the school management committees and Education Department officials.

Amit Manhar, District Nodal Officer, confirmed that data for 3,250 students had been uploaded on the portal for 2024-25, with 3,186 already receiving transportation benefits. Gyan Singh, District Education Officer, said students from Classes I to XII studying at government schools more than one km away are benefiting from the scheme. Ellenabad was chosen for the project and currently, 3,186 students are availing the benefit of the scheme.
