3-day ‘sang festival’ begins

Kaithal: Maharishi Valmiki Sanskrit University Vice Chancellor Shreyansh Diwedi inaugurated a three-day ‘sang festival’ at the RKSD College. The fest is sponsored by the cultural and youth affairs department, Kurukshetra University. Principal DAV College, Pehowa Kamdev Jha, was the guest of honour. On the first day, a team from SD College, Panipat, presented sang of King Bhartri and Queen Pingla based on an old mythical story. The objective of the festival is to re-cultivate the dying genre of sang in the state and nationally as well.

Panel discussion at MDU

Rohtak: On the second day of Rang Mahotsav at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), a panel discussion was organised in which eminent authors emphasised on literature and said it acts as a bridge between them and society. Eminent novelist Bhagwan Dass Morwal, authors Kamlesh Bhartiya, Amit Ohlyan, Sami Ahmed Khan, BL Gautam and Rattan Singh Dhillon, and academician Om Prabhat Aggarwal shared their views on the topic as well as the role of literature in society. MDU Vice Chancellor Prof Rajbir Singh spoke about the university’s role in providing democratic literary-cultural space for creative expressions. He said the MDU was committed to promoting the cause of presentation, protection and promotion of rich cultural heritage of the state.

Poetry-writing competition

Yamunanagar: Students of Mukand Lal National College once again proved their worth in the state-level original story and poetry-writing competition conducted by Hindi and English Literary Societies of Hindu Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Jind. In Hindi poetry, Manmehak Kaur of BA English (Hons) final year won the first prize for her poem ‘Deshbhakti’. Bhavya Sethi of BA final year stood second for his English poem ‘New Beginning’. For English story writing, Pragya Jain of BA English (Hons) final year secured the second position for her story, ‘Towards a New Beginning’. Rahul Khanna, officiating principal of the college, congratulated the students for their achievements.

Telangana students welcomed

Ambala: MM Engineering College, Mullana, has been paired with the National Institute of Agricultural and Extension Management, Telangana, under the Centre’s ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ (EBSB) scheme. The Mullana college welcomed the students from Telangana at Ambala Cantt railway station.

Workshop on skill development

Hisar: A two-day national workshop on skill development, entrepreneurship and empowerment was organised by Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University (CRSU) Jind. Chief guest Om Prakash Dhankar, ex-state minister, emphasised on entrepreneurship and skill development during interaction with the students. He said students should become so capable that they could provide jobs to others instead of being a job-seeker themselves.

Series of talks organised

Kurukshetra: A series of talks on the topic ‘Let’s talk with young entrepreneurs’ was organised by the Kurukshetra University Technology Incubation Centre in collaboration with the University Institute of Engineering and Technology, KU. The speakers motivated students to innovate and also encouraged them to pursue their dream no matter how hard it seems.

Lecture on self-motivation

Faridabad: The department of management studies of JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, on Monday organised an expert lecture on self-motivation and stress management by Nupur Tewari, an internationally acclaimed healer and motivational speaker from Heal Tokyo organisation in Japan. Nupur has a vast experience of working with Japanese corporates and various international schools. During the lecture, Nupur enlightened students on stress management, self-realisation, self-discipline and self-motivation. She discussed with the students how they can increase their confidence level and different modes through which they can explore their potential and channel it in the right direction.
