3 die as car falls into canal near Sonepat

Sonepat, March 3

Three persons were killed after their car fell into a minor canal near Nahra village of the district on Saturday night. The car met with the accident after hitting a pole along the roadside.

After getting information, the police reached the spot and sent the bodies to the mortuary.

The deceased were identified as Sandeep Kumar (35) of Malha Majra village, Karambeer (50) of Kheri Sampla village and Balraj (40) of Gandhra village of Rohtak district. The police said Sandeep, a taxi driver, was driving and going to Bahadurgarh on Saturday night. Karambeer and Balraj were travelling in the car.

As they reached near Nahra village, the car hit the pole and fell into the canal.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Paramjeet Singh, incharge, Barota police post, said after getting information of the mishap, a police team reached the spot. He said the victims were declared dead on the spot.

He said inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC have been initiated into the incident.

The SI said the bodies have been handed over to the victims’ family members after the post-mortem examination.
