Faridabad, July 10
The police have arrested three persons from a village here in connection with illegal production and supply of tobacco products. A case has been registered under various sections of the IPC and the NDPS Act following the recovery of 13 quintal tobacco and “pan masala” etc.
A spokesperson of the Police Department said here today that the accused identified as Jitender (alias Jeetu), Rahul and Pappu were arrested from a house at Nekpur village on Saturday.
They were found preparing pouches of tobacco, “pan masala” etc. although they did not have any licence or permission to undertake that activity. They sold these products in Faridabad and Noida. While Jitender is a resident of Dabua Colony here, the other two hail from Agra district in Uttar Pradesh.
The seized items include 741 kg tobacco, 465.5 kg slaked lime, 209 kg empty pouches, three packing machines etc. While Jitender and Pappu have been remanded in judicial custody, Rahul has been sent to police remand.
