3 held for suspected cow slaughter

Three persons, including two minors, allegedly involved in cow slaughter at Sidharth Colony in Kundli were nabbed by people and handed over to the police in the wee hours of Tuesday. Four of their accomplices managed to escape in a car.

Colony residents Sunny and Rahul saw some people loading meat in a car after slaughtering three bulls and two cows in a vacant plot. When they raised the alarm, the accused attacked them and Sunny was injured.

In the meantime, other residents of the colony reached the spot and nabbed three suspects cow slaughterers. One of them was later identified as Rustam of Bihar, while two others were minors from Uttar Pradesh. Four of their accomplices, including gang leader Mustaq of UP, managed to escape.

Kundli police station Station House Officer (SHO) Ravinder said the police buried the meat and remains of the animals with the help of a crane.

Veterinary surgeon Sushil Dahiya collected meat samples and sent them for testing in a Faridabad laboratory, the SHO said.

A case under Sections 3, 5, 8 and 13 of the Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act, and Sections 323and 34 of the IPC has been registered at the Kundli police station against the accused.

The SHO added that during preliminary interrogation, Rustam had confessed that the meat was to be supplied in New Delhi.
