3 killed in mishap on Delhi-Agra highway

Three people died while two others sustained injuries after a collision between an MPV and SUV near the JCB cut on Delhi-Agra National Highway in Faridabad on Saturday. An FIR was registered against the SUV driver at the Sector 58 police station.

According to the police, the deceased belonged to Palwal while the injured are residents of Faridabad. The police handed over the bodies to relatives after the post-mortem examination while the injured are being treated in hospital.

The deceased were identified as Manish, a resident of Banchari village; Deepanshu, a resident of Bhanguri village; and Trivendra, a resident of Krishna Colony in Palwal.

It was around 3 am on Saturday that all five were heading to their home in an MPV after finishing off their duties. After leaving the company, when their car turned towards Palwal, a speeding SUV car hit the MPV from the front. The collision was so severe that the MPV overturned five times and fell on the other side of the road. All occupants of the MPV and SUV were seriously injured and the latter caught fire. Other people present at the spot somehow extinguished the fire. Sahil and his sisters, Anshika and Saumya, who were travelling in the SUV were also taken out of the car in a critical condition. All injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Manish, Deepanshu and Trivendra were declared dead.

Injured Bhupendra said he had planned to go to Kokilavan after duty, but the mishap took place. The condition of Sahil, who was driving the SUV, and his two sisters is said to be critical. Sahil was returning with his sisters after attending a wedding in Sikri.

“An FIR has been registered and a probe is underway,” said the investigating officer.
