3 killed, six injured in road accident in Kurukshetra

Vehicle rams into stationary truck-trailer near Lohar Majra village

Three men were killed and six were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in rammed into a stationary truck-trailer near Lohar Majra village on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Sanjeev (40), Pawan Kumar (47), and Pawan (40), residents of Jammu and Kashmir. They died on the spot. The injured were identified as Mehran, Naresh, Saurav Sharma, Vishal, Faizal and Ankush Kumar.

All victims belonged to Jammu and Kashmir and used to work as catering staff. As per the information, 14 persons were travelling in the vehicle. Around 4.30 am, when they reached near Lohar Majra village, the vehicle rammed into a stationary truck-trailer. After getting information, emergency response vehicles reached the spot and the victims were taken to Lok Nayak Jai Parkash District Civil Hospital.

In his complaint to the police, Ankush Kumar, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, stated that he worked as a waiter at weddings. They used to go to different states to work, and they had been staying in Patiala, Punjab.

On November 2, he, along with his brother Sanjeev Kumar, uncle Pawan, Saurav Sharma, Pawan Kumar, Mehran, Naresh, Vishal, Faizal, Bittu, Zaheer, Saurabh Kumar, Sunil, and driver Maninder, had come to Kurukshetra to work.

“Around 4.30 am we were returning to Patiala, a truck-trailer was parked on the road without any indicator, due to which the driver failed to detect the stationary trailer in time, and our vehicle met with an accident. After the accident, the passerby helped us, and we were taken to the LNJP Hospital, from where Naresh, Saurav Sharma, Vishal, and Faizal were referred to Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, Karnal, while the others were undergoing treatment in Kurukshetra”, he added.

A case has been registered at the Kurukshetra University police station against the driver of the truck-trailer.

Sandeep Kumar, in-charge of Jyotisar police post, said “A case has been registered against the unidentified truck driver for his negligence. The bodies have been handed over to their respective families after post-mortem examination. Four injured were referred to Karnal, but they went to the PGI, Chandigarh, where one patient is in a serious condition, while the other three are out of danger.”
