3 prisoners freed during Lok Adalat

A Lok Adalat was organised at Sunaria jail in Rohtak district on Wednesday.

At the Lok Adalat, four cases were heard by Dr Tarannum Khan, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), and three prisoners were released.

This was the second Jail Lok Adalat organised in April. Dr Tarannum Khan said the first Jail Lok Adalat of this month was held on April 2, in which three cases were heard and three prisoners released. Two Jail Lok Adalats were organised in March, in which seven cases were heard and six prisoners released, she added.

“The prisoners were also informed about the Mission Mode campaign of the Supreme Court of India,” the DLSA Secretary stated.

As per the campaign, if any prisoner wants to appeal against his/her sentence before the Supreme Court, he/she can approach a team of legal and defence counsel, including a woman panel lawyer, constituted by the DLSA.
