Panipat, November 4
The final voter turnout for the Baroda bypoll held on Tuesday stood at 68.56 per cent. Three-tier security has been provided to guard the EVMs kept at a strongroom in Sonepat district.
As many as 1,22,503 voters of total 1,78,664 exercised their franchise. The lowest voter turnout has been recorded in Gangana village (50.75 per cent) while the highest in BJP-JJP candidate Yogeshwar Dutt’s Bhainswal Kalan village (90.66 per cent). The counting of votes will be done on November 10.
Sonepat SP Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said, “Three-tier security arrangements have been put in place at the strongroom at the BITS Institute in Mohana village on Sonepat-Gohana Road.”
The inner cordon was being guarded by the troops of CAPF and CISF, the middle one by the IRB of the Haryana Police and outer cordon by the Sonepat police. The entry of outsiders to the strongroom is prohibited. No one has been allowed to enter the counting centre, except the candidate and agents. The premise is under the CCTV lens. — TNS
