3 vehicles impounded for illegal transporting of mining materials
A joint team of district officials impounded three vehicles involved in illegal transportation of mining materials, as part of a special operation aimed at curbing illegal mining activities in the district.
The operation, conducted over two days on Monday and Tuesday, focused on vehicles suspected of being involved in the illegal transportation of gravel and stone. Among the impounded vehicles were two tractor-trailers and one truck. The process to impose fines amounting to at least Rs 8.50 lakh on all three vehicles was currently under way, in accordance with regulations.
District Mining Engineer Rajesh Kumar emphasized that continuous action against illegal mining was being carried out in the district.
“Last week, in a similar operation, a total of 472 vehicles were checked across various routes in the district. As a result, 11 vehicles were impounded for their involvement in the illegal transportation of mining materials. This ongoing vigilance reflects the authorities' commitment to tackling illegal mining and ensuring stricter enforcement of regulations,” he added.
