As part of the ongoing organisational restructuring campaign of the Congress, former national president of the Indian Youth Congress, Srinivas BV, said the process to appoint district party presidents has generated tremendous enthusiasm among workers. A total of 30 applications had already been received for the post of party president for the urban and rural units in the district, he said.

While addressing a meeting of party leaders and workers here on Sunday, Srinivas said all appointments would be made strictly according to the guidelines and standards laid down by the party. “Every applicant’s track record will be thoroughly scrutinised. We will assess how sincerely and consistently an applicant has worked for the Congress,” he said.

Srinivas publicly shared his personal mobile number during the meeting, encouraging workers to connect with him directly. “I am open to one-on-one meetings with any worker and will visit Rohtak twice more before June 20. Many workers have already met me at my Delhi residence. The enthusiasm around this campaign is very encouraging,” he claimed.

He emphasised that the Congress high command, under party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, was fully committed to rebuilding the organisation with a fresh approach. He confirmed that the final list of district presidents was expected to be released by the end of this month.

Earlier, Rohtak MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra proposed a two-minute silence in memory of the victims of the recent Ahmedabad plane crash.

Addressing workers, Batra said the Congress had long awaited an organisational revival and that moment had finally arrived. Every worker would support appointees in fulfilling their responsibilities.

While praising efforts of previous party in-charges, Batra said despite lacking a formal structure, Congress workers had united to successfully contest the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Former MLAs Balbir Valmiki and Sant Kumar, Jaideep Dhankhar, Chakravarti Sharma, Balraj Balle, Monu Sharma, councillor Vijay Goel and Nirmal Balhara were among those present on the occasion.
