Alleging that Rewari has also become an epicentre of “fake” voters, former MLA and Congress national secretary Chiranjeev Rao has claimed that 32,000 bulk voters (registered at the same address) and 4,000 duplicate voters have been detected in the Rewari Assembly constituency so far.

“This is not merely an administrative error, but a systematic fraud carried out under the protection of the BJP government. The Election Commission no longer functions as an independent constitutional body, but has turned into a political instrument of the BJP. In Rewari, CCTV cameras in the strong room remained switched off for nearly 45 minutes after polling in the 2024 Assembly elections,” he alleged, while addressing a press conference here on Monday.

In the 2024 polls, outgoing MLA Chiranjeev Rao lost to BJP’s Laxman Singh Yadav by more than 28,000 votes.

He maintained that all these bulk and duplicate voters were part of the 25 lakh “fake voters” recently highlighted by Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. “The issue of vote theft is not merely a political allegation, but a fact supported by data and evidence. The revelation of nearly 25 lakh fake votes is a direct assault on democracy and raises serious concerns about the integrity and fairness of the electoral process,” he said.

He further alleged that the current government was not formed through people’s mandate, but through fraud and collusion. “This is not a legitimate government; it is an illegal regime built on fake votes. The Congress will move the Supreme Court, demanding that the election be cancelled and that an independent investigation under the supervision of a sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court be conducted,” he added.
