Ambala: PKR Jain (PG) College of Education organised its convocation. Rattan Lal Kataria, Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Social Justice and Empowerment, was the chief guest on the occasion. He gave degrees to about 360 students. Principal Mudita Bhatnagar gave an overview of the college activities in the form of a college report. The chief guest congratulated the PKR Jain Managing Committee on its work in the field of education. He appreciated the efforts of the college and said the college was a source of inspiration for all other teaching institutes. He advised teachers to inculcate moral values in youth and develop a feeling of patriotism in them. He also quoted a proverb “the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world” and with it, emphasised the importance of women education and women empowerment.
IGU ORGANISES LECTURE
Rewari: Indira Gandhi University (IGU) here organised a lecture on ‘Energy Production’ at Government School in Meerpur village under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. Dr Pinki, coordinator, said Dr Sunil Kumar, who had developed a 24-hour electricity-generating hybrid green energy module from soil, was the chief guest on the occasion. Sunil said the system generated electricity from microbes in the soil by supplying them food regularly as well as using the electro-chemical approach.
TIMT CELEBRATES FOUNDATION DAY
Yamunanagar: The Tilak Raj Chadha Institute of Management and Technology (TIMT), Yamunanagar, celebrated the 105th birthday ceremony of educationist Tilak Raj Chadha and the institute’s 20th foundation day. Dr KL Johar, former vice-chancellor of Guru Jabheshwar University, Hisar; Dr Ramesh Kumar, general secretary of Mukand Lal Institutions; Dr Vikas Daryal, director of TIMT, and all the members of Chadha family-Varun Chadha, Shalini Chadha, Kunal Bharghav, Atul and Mamta Bhargav, along with heads of all Mukandian Institutions, gave tribute to Tilak Raj Chadha. Dr Ramesh Kumar said professor Chadha was a great person, who sacrificed his personal goals for the benefit of society. He said the Mukandian institutions would honor such a great soul and remember him.

Rohtak: To commemorate Vijay Diwas today, Vice-Chancellor of Maharshi Dayanand University Prof Rajbir Singh paid floral tribute at the state-level war memorial on the campus. Professor Singh said: “Our nation is safe and secure due to the courage, valour and sacrifices made by our security forces.” He paid tribute to bravehearts of the Indian Armed Forces who had laid down their lives for national security. SPEECH COMPETITION, DEBATE held
Yamunanagar: Mukand Lal Public School, Sarojini Colony, organised an inter-Mukand speech and debate competition, on Sunday. In all, 70 students of four institutions, from classes I to V, participated in the programme. Principal Shashi Bathla said Ayan Ahmed, Satyam, Kashish, Nilanjana and Pratham bagged the first position; Bhavika, Dishant, Divyanshu, Dhruvika and Bhoomika bagged the second position and Amrit, Shiv, Avni, Aisha, Yashita, Tanishtha and Kairvi bagged the third position.

Hisar: To commemorate the untimely demise of Dr Anil Pundir, Registrar, Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar, in a tragic car accident yesterday, faculty and staff at PLC SUPVA observed a two-minute silence in his memory. The deceased’s two sisters and a driver also passed away in the mishap. Registrar, PLC SUPVA, Prof Bharti Sharma, said Dr Pundir was a kind-hearted soul and a good family man. His services to the university will be remembered always. May God give strength to his family.
