37 trees found axed in Nuh, case registered

Were sold in timber market, reveals preliminary probe

At least 37 trees were found axed near the Gurgaon Canal passing through Godhola village in Nuh district, said local police officials.

On the complaint of a Forest Department official, the police have registered a case against 10 people, of whom four have been identified and named in an FIR registered at the Punhana police station.

Vinod Kumar, beat in-charge of the Forest Department had stated that during a routine patrolling from the Godhola bridge to the Laharwadi bridge, he found that a large number of trees had been cut down.

When the entire area was inspected, at least 37 trees were found axed. Upon being questioned, locals said people living nearby had cut down the trees.

The Punhana police have registered a case against Tayyab and Sajid, both residents of Tusaini village; Hakku and Hamid, both residents of Laharwadi village; and six unidentified persons. Preliminary investigations revealed that these trees were sold in the Punhana timber market. The police officials were trying to identify those who bought these trees.
