The procurement of bajra is underway at various grain markets in Jhajjar district. As per the official record, a total 37,311 MT bajra has been procured by the government agencies -- Haryana State Warehouse Corporation (HSWC) and the HAFED -- at the minimum support price of Rs 2,625 per quintal. Over 97 per cent produce procured has been lifted so far.
Pradeep Dahiya, Deputy Commissioner, said a total of 39,098 MT bajra had arrived at various grain markets located at Jhajjar, Badli, Bahadurgarh, Beri, Dhakla and Matanhail villages so far.
“A total 37,311 MT bajra has been procured and 36,523 MT among these has been lifted from grain markets to ensure timely payment of the procured produce to the farmers. The remaining produce is being lifted. Adequate arrangements have been made in the mandis to facilitate the farmers in selling their produce without any inconvenience,” said Dahiya.
He said help desks had been set up in the mandis to assist the farmers while officials of revenue, agriculture and marketing board had been deputed to resolve the farmers’ complaints, if any, on the spot.
“As of now, 14,869 MT of bajra has been purchased at the Jhajjar grain market by the HSWC, while the Hafed has procured 686 MT in Badli, 234 MT in Bahadurgarh, 1,997 MT in Beri, 5,329 MT in Dhakla AND 14,200 MT in Matanhail grain market,” Dahiya pointed out.
