In a significant breakthrough in the honour killing case, the CIA-2 team of Rohtak police arrested four accused, including the 23-year-old victim’s brother, after a late-night encounter on the Ladhot-Bohar road on Thursday. All four sustained bullet injuries to their legs during the exchange of fire and were admitted to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment.

Shekhar confirmed all four were wanted in the murder of Sapna, a resident of Kahni village, who was allegedly shot dead by her brother Sanju and his associates at her in-laws’ home on Wednesday night. Her brother-in-law Sahil was injured when he tried to intervene. According to the police, Sanju was furious over Sapna’s three-year-old marriage to a man from the same village, which the family had opposed.

“The accused were also plotting to kill Sapna’s husband when they were intercepted and arrested,” the ASP said.
