Gurugram, June 28
The district Town and Country Planning Department today carried out a major demolition drive in Gairatpur Bas village, Gurugram.
An illegal farmhouse colony was being developed in the Aravalli foothills. Road network had been laid on around 20 acres and four farmhouses were under construction on 10 acres.
According to the authorities, Gurugram district is an urban area and a controlled area in which permission is required to be taken from the competent authority before development of a colony.
The said illegal colony was being developed for the past six months, but construction work was started recently by taking advantage of the lockdown.
“In the present case, the violators were developing a colony without permission. In addition, they were planning to extend the colony on another 15 acres of adjacent land as new excavation work for laying down a road network was evident at the site. Many trees were found uprooted at the site. At least three campaigns will be run every month to take action on illegal farm houses,” said DTPE RS Bath.
Four under-construction farmhouse structures, boundary walls and road network were razed.
