Solid and industrial waste is being dumped in the open and alongside roads in Bahadurgarh, an industrial town located on the Haryana-Delhi border. This reckless disposal is not only harming the environment but also posing serious health risks to the public.

Taking a serious note of it, the local office of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) has issued show-cause notices to four industrial units located in the Modern Industrial Estate (MIE)-A and Mooja Hasanpur area of the town. The units have been directed to respond to the notices within 15 days.

Shailender Arora, Regional Officer of HSPCB, Bahadurgarh, told ‘The Tribune’ that the Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) at Bahadurgarh had also been served a notice after garbage was found dumped at unauthorised sites in the area of Sankhol and Jakhoda villages.

“Similarly, a show-cause notice has been issued to the local authorities of HSIIDC after waste was found burning in Sector17 of Bahadurgarh. Additionally, waste was discovered at unauthorised locations along the Delhi-Rohtak Road and in Sector15, leading to a notice being issued to the Bahadurgarh Municipal Council,” Arora added.

Meanwhile, in view of illegally operated plastic factories in the district and the environmental and public health hazards arising from these, District Magistrate Swapnil Ravindra Patil has issued strict prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 against these unauthorised plastic units.

These orders will be effective in the areas of Parnala, Nizampur Road, Bamdauli, Kanonda, Khairpur, Ladrawan, Siddhipur, Lowa Kalan, and Lowa Khurd. As per the orders, a complete ban has been imposed on illegal plastic industrial activities and the burning of plastic on residential and agricultural land in these areas.

The orders also clearly state that operating factories through illegally obtained electricity connections is strictly prohibited. Any violation of these orders will result in strict legal action. These orders will remain in force for the next two months, until August 29.
