4 of family consume poison in M’Garh, three die
-
Four members of a family reportedly consumed some poisonous substance in Narnaul here on Sunday night. Three of them died while the condition of the fourth member is stated to be critical.
The deceased have been identified as Ashish Kumar (48) of Mehta Chowk locality in Narnaul, his wife Rupinder Kaur and younger son Shaandeep while his elder son Gagandeep is battling for life at the PGIMS in Rohtak.
The police also recovered a suicide note in which they have held two local persons responsible for the extreme step stating that they were harassing them for returning the borrowed money before the stipulated time.
The police have started investigation after registering a case against two persons --Sombir and Akshay -- on the complaint of Rupinder’s brother Manpreet of Delhi in this respect.
The incident came to the fore when someone spotted all four lying along the Kanina Road near Salimpur village and informed the police. Ashish’s car was also there.
The police on getting information, rushed to the site and took them to Community Health Center in Ateli town where the doctors declared Rupinder and Shaandeep dead while two others were sent to Civil Hospital in Narnaul from where they were referred to the PGIMS in Rohtak due to their critical condition. Later, Ashish too died, said sources.
In his complaint lodged with the police, Manpreet said his sister Rupinder Kaur made a phone call to their mother on Sunday and informed her that she along with her family was going to die by suicide.
“My mother later told me about it. In the meantime, Rupinder whatsapped me a suicide note. Then I called Rupinder up and asked about the issue. My sister told me that they had borrowed money from Sombir and Akshay and sought a time of one month to return it but they were harassing and pressuring them by asking for the money and that too more than the borrowed amount. She disconnected the call stating that due to this reason, they were ending their lives. Later, they did so by consuming some poisonous substance,” said the complainant.
Inspector Devender, SHO, Ateli Police Station, said the investigation in the case had started while no arrest was made so far. “Bodies of all three have been handed over to their kin after post-mortem examination. Exact cause of death will be ascertained after the autopsy report,” he added.
