Ankit was the son of Bechan Mukhia, a labourer from Darbhanga district in Bihar, who had been working at the gaushala for the past four months. At around 5 pm, while his father and two other workers were operating the machine, the child was playing nearby. As the machine was being shut down, Ankit reportedly grabbed the moving belt and was pulled in.

By the time the tractor was stopped, the child had sustained fatal injuries. Personnel from the Goriwala police station reached the spot, collected the body and sent it to Dabwali Civil Hospital for postmortem. The police have launched an investigation into the matter.
