5 booked for duping man of Rs 13.70 lakh

A man was allegedly duped of Rs 13.70 lakh by five persons on the promise of doubling his money. Kamal Singh, a resident of Tandwal village in Ambala district, told the police that he was duped by Virbhan, a resident of Tandwal village in Ambala district, Harbir, a resident of Jai Singh Ka Majra village in Yamunanagar district, Sagar, a resident of Ganesh Nagar Colony in Ambala, Sandeep, alias Laddi, a resident of Ram Nagar Colony in Yamunanagar, and Rishipal Saini, alias Kala, a resident of Bhurey Ka Majra village.

Lured people on promise of doubling amount

I gave Rs 7.50 lakh to Harbir, Sandeep and Sagar in Jai Singh Ka Majra village on February 22. Again, I gave

Rs 8 lakh to Harbir, Rishipal, Sandeep and Sagar in Jai Singh Ka Majra village on May 4. But, they failed to double my money. The suspects returned only Rs 1.80 lakh out of the total Rs 15.50 lakhRs . Kamal Singh, Complainant

The complainant told the police that he knew Virbhan as he belonged to his Tandwal village. He alleged that the suspects had formed a gang which lured people into their trap by promising to double their money. He said Virbhan introduced him to Harbir and Rishipal Saini in February 2024 and told him that they worked to double money.

“I gave Rs 7.50 lakh to Harbir, Sandeep and Sagar in Jai Singh Ka Majra village on February 22, 2024. Again, I gave Rs 8 lakh to Harbir, Rishipal, Sandeep and Sagar in Jai Singh Ka Majra village on May 4, 2024. But, they failed to double my money,” Kamal Singh told the police.

Kamal Singh said when he demanded his money back, the suspects returned only Rs 1.80 lakh out of the total Rs 15.50 lakh and refused to return the remaining amount of Rs 13.70 lakh.

Kamal Singh further said the suspects threatened him with dire consequences when he asked them to return his remaining amount.

On the complaint of Kamal, a case was registered against Virbhan, Harbir, Sagar, Sandeep, alias Laddi and Rishipal Saini, alias Kala, at the Radaur police station yesterday.
