The police have arrested five persons in connection with the suicide of a 24-year-old girl in May this year after she became a victim of a fraud of Rs 6.97 lakh through the Telegram app.

ACP Cyber Crime Abhimanyu Goyat said the victim had jumped off the10th floor of a building in Sector 28. The accused were identified as Prashant, alias GG, Rizwan Ahmed, Danish, Haider Ali and Manu Vimal. He added that a case under sections of cyber fraud and abetment to suicide was registered. The money was transferred into nine different accounts. While Rizwan was nabbed on August 6, the others were arrested later and taken on police remand.

A mobile phone and an ATM card have been recovered from the possession of the accused. — TNS
