The police had received information that the accused were on their way towards the Golf Course Extension Road to commit robbery, following which the team, led by Inspector Vishwa Gaurav, reached the spot to nab the accused.

The officials set up a barricade on the road, where they spotted an auto-rickshaw without a number plate. When the police team signalled them to stop the vehicles, they tried to escape and hit the barricade and police vehicle. Five men got off the auto-rickshaw and started running towards the forest while firing at the officials.

In the process, a bullet hit the bullet proof jacket of Inspector Gaurav while another hit the window of the police vehicle.

Following this, the police team opened fire at the miscreants while a bullet each hit two accused. After being shot, both accused fell on the ground and were nabbed by the police team.

A senior police official said eight rounds were fired in the encounter, out of which four were fired by the accused and the police each.

“During police interrogation, the accused revealed that they had also committed another theft in Gurugram. The trio, who was arrested, is being questioned while those injured will be arrested after being discharged from the hospital,” said a spokesperson of the Gurugram police.
