5 members of Lawrence Bishnoi gang held in Haryana's Bahadurgarh
Jhajjar, July 11
In a major crackdown, a team of the Special Task Force (STF) arrested five members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang from Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district, bordering Delhi. The team also recovered six stolen luxury cars from their possession.
“The arrested include Chiraag, the younger brother of Tinu Bhiwani who is already arrested in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case. Chiraag is allegedly handling the drug trade of the Bishnoi gang in south Haryana. The other arrested are Manoj Bakkarwala, a car thief involved in several cases; Prakash Barmer, a resident of Barmer in Rajasthan; Amit from Pinjore; and Sanjay from Zirakpur,” said a police spokesman. Acting on a tip-off, the STF team, led by Inspector Vivek Malik, laid a trap for the accused near the Bahadurgarh bypass and apprehended them.
Superintendent of Police (STF) Sumit Kumar said: “All the arrested are active members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang who supply luxury vehicles and drugs for the gang. They also supply weapons to gang members in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab besides being involved in extortion cases. They had entered Haryana from Delhi and were travelling in a stolen Innova and Scorpio when they were intercepted in Bahadurgarh.”
The SP claimed the arrested were working for the Bishnoi and Kala Jathedi gangs for a long time. “Bakkarwala revealed that besides providing weapons and drugs to the Bishnoi gang, he had so far stolen hundreds of luxury vehicles from different states of the country. He had been arrested several times, and had been jailed for about 10 years till now. There are many cases registered against him in Delhi, Haryana, UP and Punjab,” said the SP.
