5 of family injured as roof collapses in Panipat village

Five members of a family sustained injuries after the roof of their house collapsed and they got trapped under the debris in Babail village in the wee hours today.

The villagers gathered there and began a rescue operation and rescued family members from under the debris.

The injured have been identified as Sushma (45), Suman (38), Neeraj (19), Swati (21) and Mafi (14) of Babail village.

The villagers rushed all injured to the Civil Hospital.

Mahabeer, a family member, said that the house was 40 years old.

He said that Neeraj, his three sisters and mother were sleeping in the room and the roof collapsed around 2.30 am.

“They sustained injuries but their lives were saved,” he added.
