50-ft demon king to get high-tech farewell in Fatehabad
Ravana’s 12-ft-long moustache,12-ft-wide face are expected to be main attraction.
This year’s Dasehra celebration in Fatehabad is set to be grand and unique,
with a massive 50-ft effigy of Ravana ready to be burnt. The event is being organised by the Sarv Samaj Sewa Trust, and Ravana’s 12-ft-long moustache and 12-ft-wide face are expected to be the main attraction.
Along with Ravana, 35-ft-high effigies of Kumbhkaran and Meghnad will also be burnt. Kumbhkaran’s statue will carry a 12-ft-long mace, adding to the spectacle. According to Trust members Omprakash and Charanjeet Pandit, all three effigies will be burnt together in a grand ceremony.
The total cost of the event is around Rs 2.5 lakh. To ensure safety and strength, the effigies are built with iron rods, wire, and nut-bolts. Over 20-25 days were spent crafting them. Extra precautions have been taken to prevent accidents like the one in previous years.
Ravana will be shown with 10 different faces, each representing a different aspect of his character. He will also wear golden shoes, adding a unique visual element. A total of 72 types of firecrackers will be used to make the burning even more spectacular.
Before the effigy burning, a grand procession will be held, featuring cultural performances and participation from all communities. The burning will take place near the Naya Thana ground. Final preparations are underway.
Special security arrangements have been made at the venue. Organisers have requested the public to arrive on time and follow all safety guidelines issued by the administration.
Bhuna to see burning of 2 effigies via remote control
The festival of Dasehra in Bhuna town, Fatehabad, will be extra special this year with two separate Ravana effigy burning events set for Thursday. The first event, organised by Rama Krishna Kala Manch, will take place on the college ground, where a 55 ft tall Ravana effigy will be burnt. Former MLA Dura Ram will be the chief guest, with municipal vice-chairman Narendra Bagdi as special guest.
A key highlight is the use of green firecrackers, which are designed to reduce pollution. The burning will also be done via computerised remote control, offering a new, tech-savvy experience.
The second event, hosted by Jai Shri Ram Kala Manch Trust, will be held at the sports ground of Lord Krishna Senior Secondary School. A 51-ft Ravana effigy will be set on fire using a remote by social worker Comrade Bhupender Singh and municipal representative Pankaj Pasrija.
Special modern firecrackers will fill the sky with colorful lights, making the event visually stunning.
Organisers expect large crowds and have coordinated with local authorities for traffic, safety, and overall management. The events aim to blend tradition, technology, and environmental awareness.
