The police have registered a case against six persons for allegedly stealing khair wood from the forest area falling under the Meharniwala beat of the Forest Department in Yamunanagar district.
The accused allegedly cut three khair trees with the intention of transporting these to a safer place.
According to information, Pradeep, an official of Wildlife Department and in charge of Meharniwala beat, was on patrolling duty in the forest area at about 7 pm on October 29.He saw that some people were cutting khair trees in the area.
He tried to catch the accused but they managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of the dark.
“I identified two of the accused persons Mohammad and Sharafat, both residents of Taharpur Kalan village,” the complainant told the police. He told the police that the accused cut three trees of khair. He further told the police that khair wood and a motorcycle were recovered from the spot.
A case was registered against the accused at the Chhachhrauli police station of the district.
