According to information, the fire was reportedly caused by a short circuit, and snowballed when it caught a diesel-filled drum, engulfing the entire ‘verandah’, where the animals were tied. The family that owned the cattle were asleep at another house.

The place where the cattle were kept belonged to farmer Bhup Singh, who said he suffered losses to the tune of several lakh due to the fire.

Neighbours noticed the flames and immediately informed the Fire Department and the Narnaund police.

According to information, four buffaloes and two calves were burnt to death in the fire.
