6 Haryana policemen to be honoured for role during farm stir
Chandigarh, July 17
The Haryana Government has recommended six police officials for gallantry medals for their role during the farmers’ agitation in February this year.
The farmers’ unions had initiated a ‘Delhi Chalo’ agitation for a legal guarantee of MSP during which they were stopped at the Shambhu (Ambala) and Khanauri (Jind) borders by the Haryana Police.
IPS officers Sibash Kabiraj, Jashandeep Singh Randhawa and Sumit Kumar, along with HPS officers Narender Singh, Ram Kumar and Amit Bhatia have been recommended for gallantry medals. I
t was DGP Shatrujeet Kapur who had recommended their names. Thereafter, the Haryana Government had sent their names to the Centre on July 2.
During the agitation, Kabiraj, who was posted as IGP Ambala range, Randhawa, who was SP Ambala, DSP Narender Singh and DSP Ram Kumar were chosen for their role at the Shambhu border. Sumit Kumar and Bhatia were chosen for their role at the Khanauri border. — TNS
