The survey for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana -- Gramin (PMAY-G) 2.0 to provide financial assistance to needy families in rural areas for the construction of a new permanent house is going on on a large scale in the district. The last date for applying under this scheme has now been extended to April 30, so that more and more eligible families can benefit. So far, 6,163 applications have been received from all seven blocks of the district.
“The scheme is proving to be a boon for rural families who do not have their own permanent homes or are forced to live in dilapidated and makeshift houses. The administration's goal is to ensure that no eligible family in the district is deprived of the benefits of the scheme,” said Pradeep Dahiya, Deputy Commissioner.
He explained that the PMAY-G aimed at fulfilling the dream of a permanent home for the needy and provided families with a secure and dignified life. He instructed the officials to speed up the survey process and ensure that each eligible beneficiary was included in the scheme so that the residential dream of rural families in the district could be realised.
Manish Phogat, CEO, Zila Parishad, said the survey work for the scheme was being conducted on a mission mode. “A team of gram secretaries is identifying eligible families and registering their applications while going door-to-door in villages. Families who do not have permanent houses or live in dilapidated homes are being given priority. Government surveyors will inspect the houses of these families to determine their eligibility,” he added.
He said the villagers could also apply themselves through the "Awas Plus" mobile app. A total financial assistance of Rs 1.38 lakh was provided to the beneficiaries in three installments for the construction of permanent houses under the scheme. First Installment is Rs 45,000, second for Rs 60,000 and third instalment for Rs 33,000.
